“Sitzende”

A small female figure made of bronze sits in a relaxed posture on a wooden plateau at the edge of the playground. The figure has a simple design and is classically modelled. This makes her appear timeless and ageless. Fritz Szalinski (1905–1978) has made several copies of her since 1962. There is a similar sandstone version of the motif in front of the courthouse in Hakenstraße.
The artist created many works of art in public spaces in the city. These include “Sitzende”, “Mädchen mit Vogel”, “Bärengruppe mit Jungen” and “Ausschauende”.
