“… is watching you”

The rectangular piece of wall art is called “...is watching you”. It shows the face of an ape at close range. It is a black and white photo surrounded by a black frame. The artist Friedel Kantaut (*1954) took the motif from a film. It is a film about the work of primatologist Dian Fossey. [Primates are apes and humans.]
As a viewer, the question arises: Who is actually watching whom here?
An electric clock can be seen at the bottom left of the picture. Above it is green graffiti. The artwork is located in a place where most people walk or drive past quickly. The time given in the image may be an indication of this. To how fast-moving and rushed people sometimes are. The artwork was created as part of the KIDS (Art in the City) project.
