“Großer sitzender weiblicher Torso”

A larger-than-life figure made of iron sits on a plinth. The artist Lothar Fischer (1933–2004) only hints at physical features such as the legs. They are not exactly moulded. Nevertheless, one can recognise that it is a seated female figure.
In 1991, the cultural office, a gallery and some private individuals organised the so-called “Skulpturenpfad ” [sculpture trail] in the old town of Osnabrück. There were a total of 23 works of art along the sculpture trail. It led from the Kunsthalle via the Hegertorviertel to the Museumsquartier. The aim was to familiarise people with modern sculpture.
3 of these artworks were later permanently installed in public spaces. This work is one of them. Other works from the project include “Großer Nagelkopf ”, which is just a few steps away. And “Vorwärtsstasten” on the Kamp.
