“Großer Nagelkopf”

Rainer Kriester’s (1935–2002) “Nagelkopf” shows an elongated head without a body, pierced by nails. It has no eyes, but large ears and an open mouth.
In 1991, the cultural office, a gallery and some private individuals organised the sculpture trail in the old town of Osnabrück. There were a total of 23 works of art along the sculpture trail. It led from the Kunsthalle via the Hegertorviertel to the Museumsquartier. The aim was to familiarise people with modern sculpture.
3 of these artworks were later permanently installed in public spaces. This work is one of them. Other works from the project include the “Large seated female torso”, which is just a few steps away. And “Vorwärtsstasten” on the Kamp.
