“Eingeschlossene”

The artwork “Eingeschlossene” is a bronze sculpture by Bernd Altenstein (*1943). 3 naked male bodies are connected from the shoulders upwards by a rock-like structure. The sculpture appears to be in balance. It appears dynamic and static at the same time. [You could also say that it seems to be in motion and still at the same time.]
The sculpture was brought into the public space as part of an exhibition called “Freiplastiken in Osnabrück”. This exhibition was intended to familiarise more people with modern art in the 1970s. The “Mann im November” is also part of this. A small model of the “Eingeschlossene” can be borrowed from the Kunsthalle’s Artothek. [An Artothek is like a library, but for works of art. It allows people to enjoy art at home for a while without having to buy it].
