“Ausschauende”

The small bronze figure “Ausschauende” stands on a high plinth by the house. She has placed her right hand on her forehead and is looking into the distance. Fritz Szalinski (1905–1978) created many works of art for the city’s public spaces. These include the “Ausschauende”, the “Mädchen mit Vogel”, the “Bärengruppe mit Jungen” and the “Sitzende”. The artist influenced the cultural life of the city throughout his life. For example, he co-founded the local “Bund Bildender Künstler:innen” [Association of Visual Artists] in 1929.
His studio was initially located here on the Bocksmauer from 1953. A few years later, it also became his home.
